THE “BATTLE OF FLOWERS”
WHEN: Last Sunday of the month of July
WHERE: Paseo de la Alameda
HISTORY: Since 1891, the “Batalla de las flores” is one of the most important acts of the “Feria de Julio”, and is usually scheduled on the last Sunday of July. It is a tribute to the Valencian countryside, during which glitzy parade floats decorated with flowers and carrying generally the girls who are part of the “Corte de la Fallera Mayor” of this year.
Among those on board the wagons and the public is this “battle without injuries,” are launched thousands of flowers that are then filled and well perfuming the whole “Paseo de la Alameda.”
When this cheerful atmosphere ends, a fireworks display will end the battle of the flowers and consequently also to the “Feria de Julio.”
